Do you know a young individual wanting to start their own small business? or perhaps they already have and need help with their growth?
Lawn service, odd-jobs, babysitting, and pet care are just some examples of potential businesses that could be started. We want you to have no limitations & want to hear YOUR ideas, to support you in pursuing your dream. All students between 8-18 years old with a business or business idea qualify to enter the program
Overcoming the challenges of business
Building a startup into a full-fledged business is not as easy as it looks; and that too at a young age. There are many challenges and rejections in the path of the business sector. Being a young entrepreneur is challenging and we want to help.
We help fund and mentor your business idea
If you are ages 8-18 we’d like to help you pursue your dream this summer by saying YES! Our Young Entrepreneur Scholarship (YES!) program awards up to $2,000.00. You will also have the opportunity to connect with experienced business mentors and valuable resources that will help you grow and succeed in life and business
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS & QUALIFICATIONS
1. Applicants must be individuals between the ages of 8 and 18. Organizations, groups and charities are not eligible.
2. Applicants must reside in New York State within our service area. We accept applicants from the following Counties: Wayne, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Yates, Livingston, Steuben, Thompkins, Schuyler, Chemung, Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, Tioga, Broome, Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Oneida, Herkimer, Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, Alleghany, Cattaraugus, Erie & Niagara.
3. Applicants will be judged based on a review of their business plan, responsiveness, willingness to complete ALL required steps, and overall effort placed into the application process.
4. Applicant’s business plan can be based on an existing business, new business, or idea.
5. Deadline for program entries is May 1, 2024.
6. Entries to be completed through the online form at www.yesopportunity.com Entry must be complete – incomplete entries will not qualify for review. Paper entries will not be accepted.
7. Finalists will be notified by May 8th, 2024, and may be invited to present their business to the YES! Directors committee.
8. Winners will be notified by May 15th, 2024.
9. Up to $2,000.00 in Scholarship money will be awarded.
10. Up to three 12-month Business Mentorships may also be awarded.
11. Awarded Scholarships must be used to further the business or business idea.
